Foundation to Differentiation K-12 (2 part series)
Differentiation is a “buzz” word used in many educational settings, but what does it really mean and how does it look in the classroom? This series will address the components of differentiation and provide participants the tools to use when planning that will help them avoid the trap of “One size fits all” teaching.

Family Communication and the Elementary Teacher:
Building Positive Relationships Through Conferencing Family conferences provide an opportunity to establish and/or extend positive and productive partnerships with families. Learn how to plan and conduct meaningful conferences which set the tone for a positive working relationship throughout the year.

Family Communication and the Secondary Teacher: Building Positive Relationships Participants will have an opportunity to consider and interact with a variety of strategies to build positive relationships with their students and their families.

The Homework Dilemma K-5
How much homework should I assign? What is effective homework? What do parents want? What do my kids need? These questions and more will be discussed and answered based on research and articles written by experts in the field. Plenty of collaboration time will be built into this session.

Using Technology to Support Student Learning Grades 4-12
Participants will have an opportunity to explore useful tools to support student learning such as webquests, effective PowerPoints, United Streaming capabilities, google tricks, etc. as well as have an opportunity to network with colleagues.

Differentiation for Special Ed. Teachers K-12 |
Differentiation for Special Education Teachers K-12 (2 part series) Learn effective tips and tricks for managing the special education classroom to maximize student learning (SDC and Resource Room). Participants will leave with strategies they can use the next day.

GLAD Training (Guided Language Acquisition and Development) K-12 6 day training – 2 Input days and 4 classroom demonstration days Input Days: Theory/Research - In this training, teachers will receive current research along with clear, effective instructional strategies for teaching all students grade level content while addressing the needs of the English learner in a diverse classroom.

Framework for Understanding Poverty K-12 (2 part series)
This course highlights the work of Dr. Ruby K. Payne on the hidden rules of class and how they affect the ways students learn and operate in a school setting. Ideas are examined at several levels: we will ask both "How do the hidden rules at school affect teaching and interpersonal interactions?" and "How can we help students who come with hidden rules that are different from those at school?" Strategies will be presented to support students missing valuable resources for success, and there will be a special focus on mediating information for adolescents who always come with special hidden rules!

Tools for Assessing Student Learning K-5 (2 part series) Establishing and communicating learning goals for all students and ensuring grading systems reflect those goals are essential for student success. In this series, teachers will focus on connecting assessments to learning goals based on subject matter standards that are appropriate to student development, language and special needs. Participants will have an opportunity to explore websites related to assessment and have an opportunity to share teacher created assessments with colleagues.

When It’s More Than a Minor Infraction… Classroom Management K-12 (3 part series) In this series, we will look at chronic behavior issues concerning teachers across the United States, functions of those misbehavior, and strategies/actions plans for short and long term planning for these students. We may not always be able change a child’s behavior overnight, but we can change how we react to the behaviors.

Differentiation to Support English Learners K-12 (2 part series)
In this series participants will explore the optimal classroom conditions needed to support English Learners and will learn strategies to differentiate instruction to meet their needs.

Learning is not a Spectator Sport K-12 In this seminar; participants will develop a common understanding of "active learning" and why it is essential for student learning. In addition, participants will engage in a variety of active learning strategies, collaborate with colleagues, set purpose and establish procedures for active learning and create next steps for incorporating active learning strategies into the classroom.
